SORT is a non profit shipper’s association for members of SMART created to benefit members and provide reduced ocean freights and additional services for the efficient transportation of used clothing, wipers, textiles, and textile waste products for shipment by sea and land. SORT also provides educational seminars, representation in government and legislative issues, and opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with other shippers.

SORT offers some of the lowest rates available to exporters of used clothing, wipers, and textile waste today. With low contract rates available to the Middle East, virtually all ports in Africa and the West Coast of South America- not using SORT is costing your company money!
If you are an exporter of used clothing, wipers or textile waste shipping a minimal 10-20 containers per year and paying tariff rates or only able to utilize NVO rates; you should save considerably and recoup all membership fees.

The Shippers of Recycled Textiles Association is a non-profit shipper’s association that was founded in 1989. Through the aggregate volume of our membership, SORT negotiates exclusive confidential service contracts with ocean carriers & NVOCC’s for reduced rates. Contracts cover full container loads for export of used clothing, wipers, textiles and textile waste in various trade lanes.

| As one of approximately 20 shipping associations nationwide, which have been consistently active over the past 7-10 years, our members shipped some 1000+ TEUS annually and save an estimated 1/2 Million dollars collectively per year from tariff rates. Over the past several years SORT volume has grown making us one of the few growing shipper's associations in existence today. |
SORT contracts are for cargo originating from the East, Gulf and West Coast of United States to West Coast Africa, East Coast Africa, South Africa, India, Pakistan, West Coast South America and East Coast South America.
The executive director of SMART is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the association and reports to our board of directors, which is made up of senior executives in our associated industries.
